What’s the best food to have after a workout if you’re on the slimming world diet?

Posted by | Slimming | Saturday 13 March 2010 1:42 am

I’m on the Slimming World diet and am doing quite well with it. I haven’t been exercising much, but am hoping to amp it up a bit. I know from previous years that it’s important to eat a good, nutritious snack pretty much straight after the workout but I’m struggling to find anything that’s really low in Syns, but is also good muscle food! Any suggestions?

How about saving one of your health extra B choices, or if you’re on a red day, something high in protein?

After exercise..your body is still burning off alot of calories…up to an hour afterwards.
So have a carbohydrate meal of pasta and sauce if you want or a bowl of cereal….Basically it costs you nothing as you’ll burn off what you’ve just eaten.

Why have a banana and be hungry afterwards….reward your hard effort.

make it a red day and have some meaty goodness, the protein is good for your muscles, or if its a green day have potatoes for the potassium much like a banana you can have the potatoe’s with Quorn mince and gravy so you still getting protein

peanut butter sandwich, yogurt with fruit, bagel with cream cheese,a sport drink, a piece fruit or a handful of nuts, this can maintain muscle, replenish glycogen stores and reduce the amount of fat your body stores.

Ideally, how much energy your body uses (how many calories you burn) and how much energy your body takes in (how many calories you eat) should be in balance all day.
